Description:

The Indonesian Christian College Library Communication Forum (FKPPTKI) organized a workshop with the theme "Transformation of Traditional Libraries to Artificial Intelligence-Based Libraries: Opportunities and Challenges" on August 22-23, 2024 at Ciputra University, Surabaya. The workshop aimed to equip college libraries and librarians to deal with disruptive changes in the 4.0 era. Topics covered during the workshop included the use of artificial intelligence in library services, information literacy in the AI era, and practical training in areas such as administration, academic research, and library data visualization. The goal of the workshop was to enhance librarians' skills in embracing new technologies to support future library services. Our Librarian was actively involved in this event as the chief committee, committee member, and speaker.

Dr. Dra. Luki Wijayanti, S.S., M.Hum, from Universitas Indonesia opened the seminar by explaining that user services, especially AI-based reference services, can help optimize library performance to meet user expectations. In another discussion, Prof. Dr. Rahma Sugihartati, Dra., M.Si., from Universitas Airlangga outlined two approaches to redefining the role of librarians that libraries can take in facing this change. The first approach is proactive-aggressive, which involves recruiting new staff with expertise in artificial intelligence and improving the skills of existing staff to adapt to AI technology.

This seminar included other seminars and workshops with the following topics:
1. Seminar on 5 Levels of Kuhlthau Intervention Zones as Standards for In-depth Research Reference Services, by Mr. Chandra Pratama Setiawan, S.IIP., M.Sc.
2. Seminar on the New Face of Information Literacy in the Era of Artificial Intelligence, by Mr. Dhama Gustiar Baskoro, S.S., M.Pd.,
3. Workshop on Utilizing AI for Library Data Visualization by Mr. Chandra Pratama Setiawan
4. Workshop on Utilizing AI for Administration and Services of Higher Education Libraries by Mr. Dhama Gustiar Baskoro
