On Wednesday, August 20, 2025, the ONE UPH Library, in collaboration with Elsevier ScienceDirect, held a webinar entitled “Writing High-Quality Research Articles for Scopus Journals” as a part of Elsevier’s Capacity Building Training Series.

The session, led by Dr. Johan Jang, began with a brief introduction to Elsevier’s history and its ongoing commitment to supporting the academic community through access to high-quality scientific content and various capacity-building initiatives.

During the session, Dr. Johan highlighted several key requirements for authors seeking to publish their articles in Scopus-indexed journals:

  1. Originality – Strong emphasis is placed on ensuring that submitted articles provide original contributions or new insights to the academic community.

  1. Clear Research Gap – Authors must clearly identify and articulate the research gap addressed, whether related to theoretical, methodological, or empirical dimensions.

Description: ONE UPH Library contributed to the “New Students Orientation 2025” session welcoming new students from the Faculty of Teachers College by providing training aimed at enriching their scientific writing skills. The session was led by Bapak Dhama Gustiar Baskoro, Manager of ONE UPH Library and UPH Press, and aimed to equip and introduce new students to the fundamental principles of scientific writing (including plagiarism), such as Accuracy, Validity, and Reliability (AVR).

During the session -which was attended by around 341 new students of Teacher College Faculty-, Bapak Dhama also reminded future students that ONE UPH Library, has subscribed and provides access to various high-quality databases on a national and international scale to support students' academic activities and interests in the future that can be accessed through the website, library.uph.edu. In addition to promoting the databases provided by the library, Bapak Dhama also mentioned that high-quality articles can also be obtained from various external sources that are widely available, but it is important to ensure the quality of the articles, for example by using the Sinta and Garuda portals.

The statements and teachings shared by Bapak Dhama in this event imply the library's support and role in facilitating the academic process through education and the provision of further information for the UPH academic community.
