Description:

The Johannes Oentoro Library held an Information Literacy Board Game Competition on 19th June 2019. 

All participantsThe Game, called Wide Wit War, are played by 9 groups of 3 people in 2 board, each battling each other on the board game using information literacy skills and board game strategies.

To play, the groups can collect gold, then buy tools to help them ready to face other challenges. A group has 5 Life Points which if they run out of, they will be eliminated. They could risk their life points to declare war to other groups, being pitted against each other in a timed information literacy challenge which will earn the winning group 2 Victory Points.

Or if they prefer a safer method, they could save up to buy weapons used to slay hell beast and then use the gem they get from the beast to receive a mission - where they must complete information literacy or physical challenges within a time range - which will earn them up to 3 Victory Points.

The winner is the one with most Victory Point or the last group standing.

 

After fierce wars which result in 2 groups eliminated, and countless missions the game comes to an end.

Description :
At the end of the working year, 25 library staffs of Universitas Kristen Satya Wacara went to the Johannes Oentoro Library to swap knowledge and library practices that has been practiced in recent years and to tour the library. The sessions is led by the Johannes Oentoro library manager and section heads.

The library major of Universitas Wijaya Kusuma went to Universitas Pelita Harapan to visit The Johannes Oentoro Library as a part of their field study. 30 students and 6 lecturers were introduced to The Johannes Oentoro Library profile and its latest development and library practices.

Description : The Johannes Oentoro Library and Sekolah Pelita Harapan Karawaci collaborated on a workshop for Information Literacy Training for trainers on February 4 - 6, 2010. The beginner level (February, 2010), consists of several basic training for information literacy trainer such as the core concept of information literacy in the middle of 21st century literacy, designing IL instructional program module (SAP), and how to conduct TNA (Training Need Analysis). The continuation of the beginner level class was conducted on July 28 - 30, 2010 consist of training delivery technique, and deep IL material to be delivered, designing assessment and evaluation system.

The next seminar and training for the advanced trainers was held on December 8 - 10, 2010. The seminar and training was held for two consecutive days. On the first day, there were three speakers: Luki Wijayanti (head of the University Library of Indonesia), Ailien Diao (head of the Library of Unika Atma Jaya) and Romi Satria Wahono (CEO PT. Brainmatics, ilmukomputer.com). The first session discussed the library 2.0 topic, as a form of utilization of IT & Information Litercay, which was delivered by Romi Satria Wahono. The second session discussed the strategic role of librarians in IT-based Information Literacy, hosted by Ailien Diao. The third and final session discussed the integration of IT & Information Literacy presented by Luki Wijayanti.

As reported from UPH.edu on the news section, the Johannes Oentoro Library held a seminar called "Information Literacy (IL) Training for Trainers", followed by 50 librarians from universities and schools in Tangerang, Jakarta, and some areas in Indonesia such as Bali, Central Java, East Java, Yogyakarta, and Manado. Lucya Dhamayanti representing Gerakan Permasyarakatan Minat Baca (Reading Socialization Movement) - National Library and Diljit Singh from University of Malaya, were the speakers of these three-day seminar., and some other librarians from various universities, such as Universitas Atmajaya, Universitas Indonesia, UPH, and British International School. 

According to Diljit Singh, information literacy is getting more and more important to the society, both in developed and developing country, including Africa. This era of 21st century is where new information appears every day, so that children and adults need information literacy. Even when the facilities are not sophisticated enough, society is still able to benefit from and enjoy information. Diljit Singh thinks that indonesia starts to have the awareness to new information. "From what I have learned, I think Indonesia has taken important steps through creating the awareness about information. It is done through institutions like Indonesian National Library, universities such as UPH, even school libraries. The most important thing now is how we teach people about information awareness," explained Singh.

Description : LIBANEV or Library Annual Event held by The Johannes Oentoro Library this year brought up "Information, Please!" as its theme. This annual event is being held to celebrate World Book day on April 19 to 24. World Book day is an event intended by the UNESCO to promote reading, publishing and the protection of intellectual property through copyright.

The LIBANEV itself has four general events:

1. Seminar (21 - 22 April)

The topic of this one day seminar is: "Membangun Perpustakaan Berbasis IT" brought by the Johannes Oentoro Library team. This seminar discussed about becoming a strategic-minded librarian, selecting the automation system, having Internet research and web evaluation skill, and promoting in the information era.

2. Library Special Week (19 - 23 April)

A whole week full of games, quizzes, lottery, souvenirs and prizes for the library users, students and staff alike.

3. Photography Competition and Exhibition

To develop students' interest in reading, this competition challenged every students with photography skill to display their own photos which represented the "UPH Membaca" theme. The photos was displayed in the library as an exhibition.

4. Community Service (24 April)Kegiatan Teluk Naga

The Johannes Oentoro library managed books that are no longer used by the library users and donate it to "taman bacaan". The development of "taman bacaan" is another service from library and it's located at Teluk Naga. There are also training and games for the local children.

Description : The Johannes Oentoro Library alongside Times (now Books and Beyond) bookstore collaborated with the International John C. Maxwell's Signature Trainer, Urgyen Rinchen Sim, STRE., MSBA. who delivered a seminar of 360 degree leader with the theme, "Leading and Influence People at Every Level of the Organization". This seminar was based on John C. Maxwell's most sold book according to the daily New York Times, "The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership".

Venue          : The Johannes Oentoro Library

Description : UPH - Fakultas Desain dan Teknik Perencanaan (FDTP) alongside PT Nissan Motor Indonesia (NMI) held an exhibition and seminar called Nissan Design Square. Takayuki Kimura, the Director President of NMI said, "Nissan Design Square is a part of Corporate Social Responsibility activity by Nissan Global which is the lead iof innovative design and technology in Asia. This event is the continuation of Nissan Design Forum (NDF) that was held in 2006 at ITB, Bandung and Nissan Technology Square 2008 in Jakarta."

NDS was attended by around 200 students of FDTP and was prepared especially for them to understand the design concept and technology of Nissan. The first speaker of the seminar was Makoto Yamane, the Associate Product Chief Designer from the Design Center Nissan in Japan. The second speaker was a professional clay modeler, Yoshihito Takeuchi. This event was held from 3rd - 20th of December complete with the panel display of Nissan's  car miniatures with scale of 1/4. Some of the model that was displayed are X-Trail, Teana and March which made out of plastic.

Description : The Library team participated in UPH Christmas activities which was held on December 14, 2009 at Teluk Naga as one of the UPH community service area. The Library team as a part of UPH Christmas committee 2009, conducted several competitions such as: drawing, storytelling, writing, and craft competition. Several kindergartens and primary schools around the area became the participants of the competitions.

Another action held by the committee was the book donation to Taman Bacaan at Teluk Naga. This action was a part of collaboration between the Johannes Oentoro Library and LPPM department to increase the community's reading habits.

Description     : The Johannes Oentoro Library team held training for SLH Tabita librarian at Plumpang, North Jakarta. SLH Tabita is a school under Pelita Harapan Foundation (Yayasan Pelita Harapan) and the library has been set up for few years. The librarian is also a teacher and she is enthusiastically for this training.

Description : On 2 October 2009, Indonesian people celebrating Batik as the world heritage. This celebration is the respond of UNESCO’s acknowledgement of Batik that belongs to Indonesia. UNESCO inscribed Batik on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. The Johannes Oentoro Library was decorated by Batik decoration and displayed its collection of Batik books. Hopefully, the library can attract students and everyone in UPH & STPPH to pay more attention to Batik as the local cultural heritage which is recognized by the world.

Description  : July 31st 2007 marked a historic day which UPH s library or usually called The Johannes Oentoro Library inaugurated at UPH Tower Building C.  Attended by James Riady, Ir. Johannes Oentoro himself, who's also the co-founding father of UPH, and several other senior managers.

The original Library was established on June 1994 in a 45 m² area located on the 2nd floor of the Lippo Bank Building, Kedoya Branch in Jakarta. At that time, the Winnebago automation system was implemented. Two months later, the library was relocated to a 250 m² area in the Menara Asia Buidling in Lippo Karawaci.

After six months of operation, the library moved to Menara UPH (now known as Building A on the Karawaci campus). With 1,250 m², the library developed its collection, human resources, and the UPHLib automation system. The Graduate School Library opened in 1999 at the Wisma Slipi Building in Jakarta.

On July 2006, the library moved into its current location -- a modern showcase facility of 5,000 m² on three floors of Building C on the Karawaci campus. In this new physical facility, the Johannes Oentoro Library also developed its digital collection to support the vision and mission of UPH. On September 2007, the Medical & Nursing Library opened on the ground floor of the Medical & Nursing Building next to the Siloam Hospital in Lippo Karawaci.  In September of 2015, the Medical & Nursing Library moved to the 2nd floor of the newly constructed Medical & Nursing Tower.
